OS Annoyances

OSX:

• finder is fairly awful
• cmd-tab is essentially broken to accommodate photoshop
• need to run vms for development
• userland:
  • bsd userland sucks
  • top is garbage
  • no free
  • no procfs equivalent
• UI and command line do not feel integrated (and All My Damn Process Names Are Capitalized)
• the terminals aren't very good (yes even iTerm2)

Linux:

• hardware stuff:
  • touchpad support is "functional" which means it is bad
  • 2 year old MacbookAir 6,2 webcam still completely unsupported or "install some guys super experimental patches off github"
  • power management is poor (a recent kernel patch-level update broke battery detection!)
  • suspend/hibernate can be hit/miss (DE problem I think)
  • basic peripheral setup, eg. network printers, mostly sucks
• 3 or 4 half-baked DE that will be abandoned before they are fully polished
  • Gnome3 copies all of OSX's egonimics (even bad ones), KDE is a mess
